Tangomania

Tangomagia is an annual international Tango festival held in Venice of the North - Amsterdam between Christmas and New Years Eve, from 27th to 30th of December. Although, tango was born in Buenos Aires (Argentina), but soon after spread all over the word. Amsterdam was one of the cities that quickly adapted to this genre of dance. In 2009, Amsterdam is proud to present the twelfth edition of the well known international festival.

Tangomagia is the festival that offers the best line-up of tango dancers from Buenos Aires and Europe, and free Tango Cafés in the afternoons (people can dance on the music of various DJs). Let alone the pleasant and festive atmosphere. The festival's visitors and guest are also welcomed to enjoy workshops of all levels with the maestros of this festival. The famous names should not disappoint: Sebastian Arche and Mariana Montes; Murat and Michelle Erdemsel, Eric Jorissen and Komala and much more.

The works of a first-class fashion, rock and tango photographer - Keith Widyolar - will be exposed for the public during the days of festival as well. Therefore, everyone will get a chance to see how tango is able to connect a colorful range of communities around the globe. In addition, a Short-Film Event on the theme of tango - Cinefilia Tanghera will be introduced. The media production of many artists and their different conceptions of the dance will be presented to the public.

The opening night of the festival will take place in the Kompaszaal, a famous Amsterdam tango location. Remember, that you don't have to be the best dancer to enjoy tango.
